Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

What a great start to the day this was at Uluwatu! Shoulder-high, clean waves, and just a few people out, this is what made everyone happy. It was fun at the racetracks section due to the lower tide. It is not an easy wave to surf, because the waves can be quite fast.

It is important to know how to generate speed down the line to be able to surf this wave. When the size of the waves is like today, it is perfect for intermediate surfers. With practice and guidance, you will be able to generate speed in no time. This is a basic skill everyone has to master, especially here in Uluwatu. No matter if you surf a shortboard or longboard, it’s a wave for everyone who likes to take on a new challenge.

Advanced surf guiding at Uluwatu

Our advanced group had a great session today at Uluwatu! Clean, long left-handers were breaking consistently and the tide was just right. Most surfers went early in the morning today, but we chose to do our second session at Uluwatu just before lunchtime.

This way we were able to be in the water with fewer other people and had the chance to catch more waves. Just make sure you put enough sunblock on when you go around this time. The conditions are great all day long, but often, during this time it is less busy as most people surf in the morning and evening. When you know where and when to go, amazing waves can be found every day.

Intermediate surf guiding at Dreamland

The offshore wind has been strong the last couple of days but here on the Bukit, this only means better waves! This morning, Dreamland was great at low tide. The A-frame in the middle of the beach was the best peak to go to. Fun right and left-handers broke consistently over the reef.

We expect the swell to get bigger throughout the day and look forward to scoring more perfect waves in the afternoon. This is one of the great things about the Bukit at this time of year, you can surf all day long to the offshore wind. Combined with crystal clear water and white sand beaches, it is no wonder that Bali is one of the best surf destinations in the world.

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Uluwatu was great today for our intermediate group. The waves were shoulder-high but clean and very fun to surf. Perfect to practice take-off and generating speed down the line. Surprisingly, the crowd was light and it was easy to catch waves.

With the higher tide coming in fast, the waves got a little bigger, but we already had a great session and we are now looking forward to the afternoon to surf again. We expect the conditions to be the same and everyone is excited to go out again to get more waves. Surfing Uluwatu for the first time is a big accomplishment. When you get used to the waves here, you will improve your surfing skills dramatically.

Intermediate surf guiding at Padang Padang

A rainy morning does not have to make you sad or lazy. Here in Bali, it often means great waves and fewer people in the water! A good opportunity to have a fun surfing session to start the day in paradise.

The swell forecast predicts smaller waves for the next few days, but a new, bigger swell is about to arrive on Thursday. Until then we will enjoy our home spot Padang Padang as well as Uluwatu and Balangan. When the new swell arrives, other spots like Toro Toro and Dreamland will be on fire again. So many surf breaks to choose from, and with our local knowledge, we always know what the best spot is for the day’s conditions.

Advanced surf guiding at Dreamland

What a great afternoon session our advanced group had today! Head-high waves were breaking perfectly at Dreamland beach. The right-handers were great to practice bottom and top turns as well as generating speed around the breaking section.

This wave is not the longest, but one of the most fun! The take-off is fast and the first section of the wall is quite steep, perfect for a committed top turn. This A-frame only breaks on a low tide. When the tide gets too high the waves almost disappear. Then, the shore break on the left side of the peak gets fun. Here you can practice other maneuvers like floaters and airs. Dreamland has something for everyone, and also for the sunseekers who prefer to stay on the beach.

Intermediate surf guiding at Padang Padang

A new swell arrived during the night and the waves are bigger than the last two days at Padang Padang. Due to the high tide early in the morning, the conditions were challenging because of the stronger current and more powerful waves.

Nevertheless, with effort and commitment, it was possible to catch many great waves. On days like this, patience is more important than usual, because choosing the right wave is crucial to having a good ride. With the help of our professional surf instructors, you can be sure to catch the good ones even though it can be difficult to spot them.

Intermediate surf guiding at Padang Padang

Surf’s up and our home spot Padang Padang was very enjoyable despite the small swell today. Clean right and left-handers offered many great rides and everyone got plenty of waves. If you are looking for a place to improve your wave-catching skills, this is where you would want to be.

There are many reasons why this surf spot is so popular among beginner and intermediate surfers. One of them is that it is perfectly suitable to catch your first green waves. Not only that but also to start doing your first turns after the pop-up. The gentle breaking waves give you enough time to think about every step you do and to focus on your technique. This way, progress, and fun is guaranteed!
