Advanced surf guiding at Uluwatu

The 8-10 foot swell delivered overhead waves at Uluwatu today and having a big board was definitely an advantage. With waves like this, you want to be able to paddle fast and glide into the waves as early as possible.

Uluwatu can handle every swell size, from hip-high to double overhead, and with the right equipment and skill, there is always a surfable wave. When it gets this big, only advanced and experienced big wave surfers should go out there. Strong currents and long hold downs are serious dangers on days like today. Other surf spots like Honeymoon or Toro-Toro are more suitable and recommended for the average surfer.

Intermediate surf guiding at Toro Toro

Toro-Toro today was a blast! Fun-sized and perfectly shaped waves made this a very special morning. Everybody had a great time surfing out there and lots of improvement was made during this session. This is what a morning surf looks like at Padang-Padang Surf Camp!

Having a consistent wave to practice on will get you to the next level much quicker. This is one reason why Bali is the perfect place for beginner and intermediate surfers. One week of proper surf coaching and great waves will have a significant impact on your surfing and wave reading skills. Toro-Toro is only one of many great surf spots. Depending on the tides and surf conditions, we are choosing the best suitable spot for your surfing level.

Beginner Surf Lessons at Jimbaran

The new swell has arrived and we decided to go to Jimbaran with our beginner group. The waves were perfect and super fun to play with. As this is a beach break, it is also very safe to get the first experience on a surfboard. An aspect that is very important to us!

Getting the basics right and a feeling for the waves and equipment is equally important. Only then you can really feel comfortable in the water and enjoy this sport to the fullest. With the help of our professional surf instructors, you will be learning these things in no time and have fun from the very beginning. From here on it will only get better!

Intermediate surf guiding at Balangan

We had a great, uncrowded morning surf today at Balangan. A more than welcome change to the hectic spots in the south of the Bukit. The conditions were not the cleanest this time due to the high tide, but the lack of other people in the water made up for it.

Many waves were caught and everyone was well exhausted after the session. The swell was dropping again a little today, but we expect the new swell to arrive very soon. Tomorrow, surely bigger waves will be on offer and we will explore other, more sheltered surf spots again. Uluwatu will be huge and places like Honeymoon and Toro-Toro will be the best choice for our intermediate and advanced groups.

Advanced surf guiding at Uluwatu

The waves got bigger again and Uluwatu delivered as usual. Glassy, head-to overhead sets came in all morning. It is really astonishing how good and consistent this surf spot is. It hardly ever goes completely flat and even if it gets small, the waves are still fun and rippable.

On days like today, when there is a solid swell, Uluwatu offers some of the best waves on the Island. Clean walls and long rides provide opportunities for turns, airs and of course, barrels! The perfect spot to practice all kinds of maneuvers or just simply have fun getting the waves of your life. A truly unique place to surf and an unforgettable experience.

Intermediate surf guiding at Padang Padang

Padang-Padang was super fun this morning! Not as packed as usual due to the smaller swell but the waves were still great and offered perfect little barrels. It was a great session for everyone who dared to take off in shallow water.

The more advanced surfers could enjoy the Balinese pipeline whilst the beginner and intermediate surfers had fun at Baby-Padang on the other side of the channel. Not as famous as its big brother but as fun for sure if you don’t need to stand tall in a barrel. It is a great little playground for all kinds of surfers. Also, kids can have their first surfing experience without having their parents worried about a sharp reef or big waves.

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Surfing Uluwatu was such a pleasure today! Great waves and great company in the water made this session really special. The shoulder-high sets were perfect to practice turns and generating speed on the clean walls of the waves.

Consistency is key to quicker progress. Having good waves every day helps you get better so much faster. We are definitely spoiled here in Bali when it comes to the quality of waves. Once surfed here, it is hard to find a better, more consistent place. So much variety of world-class surf spots all over the island attracts not only the best surfers but also the ones who like to learn and improve.

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Uluwatu was great at low tide this morning! The waves at “Race-tracks” were peeling perfectly over the shallow reef. Getting barreled was on top of the list for many surfers out there and many achieved their goals doing so.

Not only barrels but also big turns and snaps were possible to do on the clean, long walls of this wave. This section of Uluwatu is called “Race-tracks” for a good reason. Its fast pace is hard to keep up with and being able to navigate through the tube is essential if you want to surf it all the way. If you manage to do so, be ready for a long paddle back while you watch others getting the rides of their lives.

Advanced surf guiding at Padang Padang

The Balinese “Pipeline” was on fire this morning with overhead barrels pleasing the ones who were brave enough to paddle out. The power of the wave is astonishing and surprises many surfers who try it for the first time.

It takes commitment, strong arms, and patience to catch one of these bombs. It is not easy to get one of the set waves as one of the local pros will already be standing tall in the tube before you even start paddling for it. Starting off with the smaller ones is a good idea. Get to know the waves and work your way up to the big ones. All the hard work and spent time waiting and watching will be worth it once you come out of the barrel of your life.
