Bali Surf Guiding Reports

Swell size was double overhead for 3 consecutive days, but has now dropped to a perfect fun size at most of the breaks. We decided on a trip to Balangan and again got the call right with perfect glassy waves. Balangan is a racy wave and there will always be a section that is too fast too make, but in perfect conditions like this, it is possible to get some very long rides. Balangan still retains that old worldly charm, and is a perfect place to drink a cold coconut before or after the surf session. Swell is forecast to pick up again tomorrow and there will be a nice medium sized swell for the next few days.

When a big swell arrives, Padang-Padang shows its true face. This is what made this wave so famous – heavy barrels! On a lower tide, a must-go-to spot for professional and expert surfers only. It is also a great spot to watch if everywhere else should be too big for you to surf.

The perfectly breaking, hollow left-hander attracts many surfers from all over the world. Everyone in the line-up is on the hunt for one of these tubes. Getting one can be a difficult task, but once you do, you will never forget! It is a wave that demands respect and commitment. Pulling out from one of these waves when you paddle for it, is not an option. “Go big or go home” is the mindset you need to surf this wave.

Wow, what an amazing start to the day this was this morning! Perfect, light offshore wind conditions and head-high sets were on offer at Green Bowl. Due to the slightly bigger swell, not many people were out in the line-up. We made the right decision going there and everyone scored great waves!

This beach is surrounded by stunning nature, the white sand beach and high cliffs are gorgeous to look at. The two caves, close to the ocean, provide a very welcoming place to cool off when it gets too hot on the beach. From there you have the perfect view of the waves and can watch surfers get the rides of their lives. If Green Bowl is not yet on your bucket list, it is time to put it on there!

The waves were great this morning at Uluwatu! Glassy, super clean conditions, and a light crowd. made it very enjoyable in the early hours. Surfing this spot is always a challenge. Not only to read the waves properly but also to navigate the line-up. You need to put some time and effort in to really get to know the many peaks Uluwatu has.

A professional guide can help you with that. Positioning is key and knowing which wave will break best can be hard at first. This is all part of the learning experience, with enough time and the right guidance though, this is no problem at all. Once you figure out the wave, you really get the most out of your surf sessions. Even though it can get very busy, one or two great waves at Uluwatu can make your day!

Balangan is definitely one of our favorite surf spots in Bali. The crystal clear water and white sand beach are magical. A high tide produces long, enjoyable rides and a safe playground for beginner and intermediate surfers.

Not only are the waves great but also the scenery and small warungs on the beach. After a fun surf session, you can enjoy an ice-cold coconut and watch other surfers getting the ride of their lives. Especially if you are a goofy footer, you will enjoy this wave, but also as a regular footer, you can get some of the longest rides you ever had.

Padang-Padang was showing itself from its best side again today. Clean, perfect waves were breaking consistently throughout the morning. Left and right breaking peaks made it easy for everyone to catch waves and get long, fun rides.

Surfing with a group of friends is hard to top. Sunny weather, clear water, and awesome waves make this experience even better. Days like today are what get people addicted to this sport and lifestyle. Not only is surfing a sport but also a way of life. A surfing holiday like this can be a life-changing experience.
