Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

Our group of beginner surfers had a great morning at Baby Padang. The surfing conditions were top-notch! Compared to yesterday, the swell has increased in size considerably, with up to head-high waves on offer! Predictably, the wind was blowing slightly offshore, which is the ideal direction for surfing. The wave faces were smooth and glassy, allowing everyone to enjoy long, smooth rides.

The surfers worked on getting into the functional stance from the pop-up, which is an essential step towards progressing beyond a beginner level. Once you have developed the ability to ride from the top of the wave in the functional stance, a new level of control and speed becomes available to you.

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

It was a beautiful morning at Padang Padang for our beginner surfers! The wind was calm, the sun was shining, and the waves were waist-high! These are perfect conditions for first-time surfers. Today’s smaller waves offered a more relaxed experience as there is minimal water movement and less force behind each wave. This slower pace of the session enables beginners to comfortably find their balance and enjoy the long rides along the protected reef.

The favorable conditions, characterized by a tranquil tropical environment, contribute to a faster skill improvement for newcomers compared to surfing in most locations, which require a wetsuit and offer a lower-quality wave. June has proven to be an exceptional month for both beginner and intermediate surfers. More waves are on the way! See you out there!

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Our intermediate group had a fantastic morning surfing Uluwatu at first light! The conditions provided an enjoyable blend of long rides with challenging sections for the brave on the larger waves. The swell had decreased in size compared to yesterday, creating overhead lines with occasional standout sets. The wind was initially calm but gradually gained strength throughout the session. The more experienced surfers enjoyed the barreling sections over the shallower parts of the reef, while the less-seasoned surfers opted for the smaller waves.

Looking ahead, the surf forecast indicates a gradual fading of the swell over the next few days. However, there is anticipation for a new long-period swell to fill in on Saturday, June 24th. Grab a board and lets go!

Intermediate surf guiding at Dreamland

Our Intermediate surfers had a delightful morning at the picturesque peaks of Dreamland just as the sun emerged from behind the Bukit Peninsula. The swell has dropped off considerably since the day before to a much more manageable size. The waves today came in at around the head-high range on the largest of sets. As always at this time of the year, Dreamland boasted a glassy ocean surface complemented by a gentle offshore breeze. The water showcased a stunning blue hue, a result of the white sand resting on the seafloor. Surfers focused on refining their technique, capitalizing on the mellow, elongated slopes of the waves to enhance balance and control.

Tomorrow, we have the first large swell of the season arriving. Grab a seat cliffside at Uluwatu and enjoy!

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Our intermediate surfers recently enjoyed a delightful morning session at Uluwatu, starting at first light. The mesmerizing orange glow of the sunrise and the vivid full moon competed to create a marvelous reflection on the incoming set waves. Although the swell had slightly decreased in size compared to the previous day, most set waves were still in the head-high range, with some larger standout sets arriving for the patient surfers. At first light, the tide was just right, striking the perfect balance of easy paddling over the reef and optimal wave shape and size. The offshore trade wind blew gently, leaving the wave faces smooth as glass.

These are the conditions you can expect in June. Consistent swell, consistent sunshine, and calm mornings with the offshore trade wind picking up in the afternoon.

Intermediate surf guiding at Balangan

Our group of intermediate surfers had a fantastic time surfing the beautiful peaks at Balangan. The swell has dropped in size since yesterday, which was welcomed after yesterday’s powerful long-period swell. The surfers enjoyed sets just overhead, punctuated by numerous smaller waves for everyone’s delight. The wind had picked up to a moderate pace, while the offshore direction preserved clean wave faces. The surfers with the ability to ride high on the wave face were rewarded with long, open walls, while the improving surfers worked on generating speed by pumping the surfboard and optimizing their weight distribution.

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

Crystal clear conditions this morning at the scenic waves at Padang Padang. The predicted swell did not arrive as per the forecast; however, there were plenty of long lines for our beginner surfers to enjoy. The waist-high waves moved at a leisurely pace, and the glassy surface conditions remained undisturbed by the absence of wind. The surfers utilized their session to work on trimming down the line on the faster left-breaking waves, and staying in the pocket on the slower right-breaking waves.

On a small day like today, surfing evolves into an aquarium experience, with vibrant and colorful fish swimming beneath you. As the sun rises and before the trade wind picks up, the water is at its clearest. Just one of the many reasons to tag along for a surf lesson.
