Chicken Wings Surf Spot Info, Report and Forecast

Surfing at Chicken Wings

Sitting at the far north end of the Geger Reef ecosystem in Nusa Dua, Chicken Wings is a much higher-quality wave than its name might suggest. It is a fantastic option for experienced surfers who can read a shifty lineup and battle the strong currents that kick up during large tidal movements. The break features several distinct peaks, with the largest shifting furthest south toward Geger Right. When you manage to link these sections together, you can score incredibly long rides.

Because it acts as a swell magnet, Chicken Wings is an excellent go-to option on smaller days. While it is surfable on all tides, it performs best on the mid-tide. The easiest way to access the lineup is by taking a boat from Mengiat Beach. Just keep in mind that the local boats stop running when the swell gets too massive. If you find yourself grounded by big surf, don’t worry—that usually means nearby spots like Sri Lanka and Benoa are firing instead.

Advanced Surf Guiding at Chicken Wings

Fun surf today at Chicken Wings! Our crew caught the first boat out to this playful Nusa Dua right-hander. We scored mostly head-high sets with long, connecting sections for those finding the right line. A few chunky sets provided extra adrenaline and even a couple of quick barrels.

While the wind was a bit stronger than ideal, the conditions remained fun and glassy under the morning sun. Tomorrow, we’re watching for the first signs of the SE trade winds—the official kickoff to the dry season! We’re itching to get back to Uluwatu soon.
