Geger Left is made up of three peaks, which increase in size and power the further you are from shore. It’s a consistent wet-season option offering clean, fast lefts, occasional rights, and even the chance of a barrel under the right conditions.
Geger Left works best from October to April when S/SW swells combine with NW tradewinds that blow offshore. The wave performs best from low to mid tide—specifically when the reef is just covered with water, up until the point where waves begin breaking directly onto the rocks near the stairs.
Geger Left is a solid wet-season option for surfers seeking quality waves without the crowds. While it may not draw international surf tourists like Uluwatu or Keramas, its clean lefts, scenic setting, and uncrowded lineup make it a rewarding break for those in the know. Another convenient feature about Geger Left is that if the waves here are too large, you can continue down the road to Sri Lanka or Benoa, which will be smaller and more organised. If the waves are very small, the outside peak or Geger Right will always have a breaking wave.
For guests at our Bali surf camp, Geger Left is occasionally included in our guided sessions for intermediate and advanced surfers when conditions are right. Whether you’re working on steep takeoffs or just want to surf in peace with world-class views, this wave delivers.
