Intermediate surf guiding at Bingin

We paddled out at bingin first light this morning, head high waves, and only 2 guys out early. The tide was a bit high, which gives a current and some chop in the take off zone. As the tide dropped, the current eased off, and there there some solid sets. Perfect size for bingin, and at most only around 10 guys who were all happy to share the waves. Very good vibe in the water, with everyone taking turns and getting good rides. Swell seems to be picking up, and will be pumping everywhere today on the bukit.

Advanced surf guiding at Uluwatu

Today the swell is smaller, and more suitable for intermediate-advanced surfers than yesterday, which was quite challenging. The wind was medium strength, but blowing straight offshore so clean, quality waves on all sections of Uluwatu from Temples down to the Racetrack. The swell is forecast to me much bigger tomorrow, so we will do a dawnie and hopefully pick the spot which is the right size.

Advanced surf guiding at Uluwatu

The swell was a touch smaller today, and bingin was not quite big enough, so we headed to Uluwatu. The racetrack was perfect this morning until about 9am when the trade winds kicked in, and give some chop on the face. The peak was more sheltered from the wind, and as the tide got higher, the peak delivered some great waves. Unusually there were quite a few right handers from the peak, but as always, the left is a better quality wave. As we move into July and August, we can expect some more windy days, but it is always offshore and surfable, all day and every day.

Advanced surf guiding at Bingin

Epic session this morning at bingin, every wave was a perfect barrel. Only 3 guys out when we arrived, and conditions were perfect for the first 1.5 hours. Bingin is rightly known as the easiest place to get barrelled, as the wave never closes out, and breaks at a regular speed which is not too fast. Usually there is a hungry crowd pushing deep, but today everyone was happy to take turns. If you are not competing for the wave, then you can take off in right spot, pull in, barrel, repeat.

Advanced surf guiding at Uluwatu

Uluwatu today the waves are starting to get a little bigger than yesterday. The tide was a bit high for the racetrack to work good, so most of the action was on the peak and in the section between the peak and racetrack. Very light offshore winds and some long rides to be had. Not very powerful waves today, which is great conditions for intermediates to improve their surfing technique.

Intermediate surf guiding at Balangan

Today the weather is a bit cloudy and the waves are small but still good for surfers. Not many people in the water. When we arrived, it was very small, but when the tide came, several sets came, and our Guest was very happy because they got a lot of waves, and could surf Balangan for the first time and hope to surf there again

Advanced surf guiding at Uluwatu

The swell was forecast to drop in size overnight and it was a tough choice between Bingin as maybe too small and Uluwatu as maybe too big. Having surfed Bingin for the last 3 days we opted for Uluwatu. We were the first ones out there this morning, and the conditions were challenging as the tide was a bit high and the sets pushing double overhead. As the tide dropped, the surf cleaned up and there were some excellent waves to be had. As usual after a big swell, it was very quiet this morning at Uluwatu. For intermediate surfers, the better option would be baby Padang or Impossibles which had good waves and a bit more sheltered than Uluwatu
