Keramas Surf Spot Info, Report and Forecast

Surfing at Keramas

Keramas is a short ride with shifting peaks but produces deep, perfect barrels and is a favourite of hot locals, touring professional surfers and a competition venue for WQS and WSL events. Even on a tiny swell, there will be a wave at Keramas as the river has, over thousands of years, etched a deep water channel which funnels the waves directly onto the peak. The waves come in fast from deep water, slow down suddenly when reaching the reef and produce perfect barrels.

It was a secret spot until they built the east coast highway. Even after the spot was discovered, it was still worth a trip up here, but since the Komune Resort opened, it is always busy. Its best to paddle out with a top local surfer to help get waves off the locals. Too crowded? Hang out with the cool crowd at the Komune drinking cocktails is an alternative to surfing.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Lessons at Guiding at KFC Keramas, Bali

A road trip was the call this morning as our intermediate and advanced group jumped into the vans and headed up to the east coast of Bali to surf at ‘KFC’ in Keramas.

After leaving before first light, the group were the first in the water and enjoyed the place to themselves apart from just one other surfer.

As you can see, waves were super-clean and glassy — breaking in the chest to head-high range on sets and it was well worth the drive!
