Surfing Royalty at Perfect Padang Padang

It wasn’t the biggest swell of the year, but Padang Padang was glassy and perfect this morning for the group of surfers which included none other than the Kelly Slater himself

The crowd was relatively small and the waves were absolutely pumping as huge green barrels thundered down the reef and into the channel which was packed with water photographers

There were a few wipeouts and a few dodgy drop-ins but, in general, an absolute barrel-riding display being put on by all

The swell should still be around tomorrow so check back again to find out what goes down during tomorrow morning’s session.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

Uluwatu was our spot of choice today for the mid-morning session where tide was mid/low with both the main peak and racetracks sections working nicely

The SSW swell was breaking in the chest to head-high range with light winds keeping things nice and clean for the relatively small group of surfers enjoying the morning

The sun has burned off the morning cloud and the tide looks good all day for the intermediate surfers in the area to enjoy the last of the current fading swell before a new swell arrives to send things back into the XL range later in the week

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

We were back at Uluwatu this morning for the first session of the day where conditions were glassy but a little bumpy by our usual standards

Waves were breaking between chest and head-high and being enjoyed by a crowd of around ten surfers, spread between the main peak and Racetracks sections

With favourable tides meaning the water on the reef is close to the optimal range all day, it should be a great day of waves for the intermediate/advanced surfers once the offshore breeze straightens things out

Advanced Surf Guiding at Impossibles, Bali

We headed to Impossibles this morning for the first session of the day where the sun was shining and the wind was blowing just a little harder than would have been ideal

Waves were breaking between chest and head high with a couple of overhead sets giving the surfers more of an opportunity to race past those infamous tricky sections

Although the breeze was fairly strong, it was in a favourable direction so conditions were nice and clean for the small group of surfers out enjoying their sessions

XL Swell at Padang Padang

We took the camera to Padang Padang this morning to catch some of the bombs being ridden at the peak of the current swell

There was a small crowd in the water on bodyboards, surfboards and SUPs as waves in the overhead to well overhead range were pounding down the reef

The conditions weren’t quite perfect with the barrels often sectioning or pinching but everyone was giving their best efforts to make it to the channel unscathed

Advanced Surf Guiding at Bingin, Bali

The first session of the day for the advanced surfers was at Bingin this morning and we were there with the camera to capture all the action

Conditions were glassy and just about perfect although a little extra swell and some slightly larger waves would have served up some more of Bingin’s famous barrels

Weather conditions were calm and overcast and, although the day started with a wet season feel to it, the sun soon burned off the clouds

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Balangan, Bali

It was a cloudy and slightly blustery start to the day as we headed to Balangan for this morning’s first surf session

With a good sized swell hitting Bali at the moment, sets between shoulder and head-high were wrapping into the bay at Balangan and peeling down the reef for the small crowd of surfers to enjoy

We’re expecting the waves to be similar tomorrow before a new larger swell starts building through Wednesday and Thursday

Intermediate Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

We were back at Uluwatu with the camera this morning for the first session of the day where the first signs of the new swell were appearing with waves breaking everywhere from waist to head high

The early wind was less optimal than it has been for the past week but conditions were still clean and uncrowded which is the kind of combination to make any surfer happy

Intermediate Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

The last of the current swell was providing some small but clean and fun left-handers down the road at Uluwatu this morning

Waves were breaking between waist and shoulder high with fewer than twenty surfers spread across the length of the reef

The new swell will arrive tomorrow and build throughout the day which means more of the local breaks will start to work and offer some more variety to the lucky surfers here on the Bukit
