Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

We had such a fun session this morning at Padang Padang! Perfect right-handers were peeling over the reef and the swell size was just right. Great conditions for catching the first green waves for our intermediate guests. On waves like this, progress is guaranteed!

To start going left or right on a wave, you want to have a consistently breaking peak that allows you to catch the wave and turn before it breaks in front of you. Our home break has exactly that, it is one of the best places in the world to learn how to surf. Not only is it for beginners and intermediates but also for advanced surfers who like to practice generating speed and other maneuvers. It offers a great training ground for all surf levels!

Beginner Surf Lessons at Jimbaran

Jimbaran was our preferred option today to do the beginner lessons. The big swell made it clear that Padang Padang was not suitable today. To be honest, Jimbaran is not as pretty as Padang Padang beach, but the waves are super fun and perfect to learn on. Also, because the button is sand, it is very safe.

The wave breaks close to the beach and it is possible to walk out to the line up where you sit and wait for the waves. This makes it very suitable for beginners and also easy to catch many waves. If you get tired of paddling, simply walk back out. It is a playful surf spot when the waves are too big everywhere else and especially for children, it is great!

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

Padang Padang, our home spot, was great today for the intermediate group. Shoulder high sets came in consistently and it was easy to get waves. Perfect to catch the first green waves and to start turning the board in one direction.

Once you start going left and right, along the face of the wave, it is a completely different experience. The feeling you get from surfing the unbroken wave is exciting and fun. While you are on the wave it is hard to think about anything else. Only the moment, here and now matters. After surfing a wave, the energy that goes through your body motivates you to catch more waves and keep going. That is the feeling we are all looking for!

Beginner Surf Lessons at Balangan

Today, the waves were unusually small for this time of year and we decided to go to Balangan again. This spot offers great waves for intermediate surfers with smaller swells and higher tides. The long, mellow breaking waves are perfect for practice paddling, take-off, and turning.

You can get pretty long rides out here when the conditions are right. This gives you plenty of time to focus on your technique and stance on the surfboard. The more time you spend actually surfing, the more progress you will make. Besides the fun waves and the beautiful beach, the local warungs provide perfect chill-out areas after or in between the surf sessions. This beach has everything you need to enjoy your surf holiday!

Beginner Surf Lessons at Jimbaran

The new big swell arrived this morning and Padang Padang was on fire. While some of the best surfers of Bali and the world surfed massive barrels at the Padang Padang Cup, our intermediate group enjoyed hip-high waves at Jimbaran.

It doesn’t look as spectacular as seeing someone deep in the tube, but what counts most is the fun you have while riding the wave. There is no point in surfing waves that are out of your comfort zone or ability level. Staying safe and being able to make progress while surfing is what we are looking for when choosing surf spots. This way you can fully enjoy the surf session and concentrate on improving your surfing skills.
