Advanced surf guiding at Uluwatu

The waves got bigger again and Uluwatu delivered as usual. Glassy, head-to overhead sets came in all morning. It is really astonishing how good and consistent this surf spot is. It hardly ever goes completely flat and even if it gets small, the waves are still fun and rippable.

On days like today, when there is a solid swell, Uluwatu offers some of the best waves on the Island. Clean walls and long rides provide opportunities for turns, airs and of course, barrels! The perfect spot to practice all kinds of maneuvers or just simply have fun getting the waves of your life. A truly unique place to surf and an unforgettable experience.

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Surfing Uluwatu was such a pleasure today! Great waves and great company in the water made this session really special. The shoulder-high sets were perfect to practice turns and generating speed on the clean walls of the waves.

Consistency is key to quicker progress. Having good waves every day helps you get better so much faster. We are definitely spoiled here in Bali when it comes to the quality of waves. Once surfed here, it is hard to find a better, more consistent place. So much variety of world-class surf spots all over the island attracts not only the best surfers but also the ones who like to learn and improve.

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Uluwatu was great at low tide this morning! The waves at “Race-tracks” were peeling perfectly over the shallow reef. Getting barreled was on top of the list for many surfers out there and many achieved their goals doing so.

Not only barrels but also big turns and snaps were possible to do on the clean, long walls of this wave. This section of Uluwatu is called “Race-tracks” for a good reason. Its fast pace is hard to keep up with and being able to navigate through the tube is essential if you want to surf it all the way. If you manage to do so, be ready for a long paddle back while you watch others getting the rides of their lives.

We were up before the dawn this morning to get an early start at Bali’s premier surf break. It was well worth the effort to beat the crowd and get some epic waves before breakfast. Perfect tide for the Racetrack and overhead clean waves breaking all the way down to the big rock. A few barrels to be had, lots of turns and some very fast sections. Light offshore wind and partially sunny. Tomorrow another solid swell is forecast to light up all of Bali’s breaks.

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Our goal this morning was to score some more great waves at Uluwatu before the big swell arrives. Tomorrow the waves will be massive and Uluwatu will be only possible to surf for experienced big wave surfers – guaranteed a great show to witness!

Today though, shoulder to head-high sets offered plenty of opportunities to catch waves for our advanced intermediate guests. Long, clean left-handers rolled in and everyone who caught one of those paddled back with a big smile on their faces. It is hard to go in after catching the wave of your life. “Satu lagi” or “one more” is a very well-known phrase you hear out there on a daily basis.

The rain this morning was a good excuse not to get out of bed. But not for us! The ones who stayed strong and made it up early were rewarded with great waves and a relaxed line-up at Uluwatu. There is always a bright side to a rainy day in Bali.

The waves were shoulder to head-high and perfectly glassy. Even though they were not very big, they had enough power to be able to generate a lot of speed to race down the line and perform quality turns. The current was forgiving and paddling back to the line-up was like a walk in the garden. Lots of waves were ridden today, breakfast was well deserved and we are already looking forward to the afternoon session.
