Uluwatu Surf Spot Info, Report and Forecast

Uluwatu was the preferred spot to go today for many surfers on the Bukit. The smaller swell and low to mid-tide in the morning were perfect for the race-track section. Long, clean left-handers were peeling over the reef and there was plenty of time to practice bottom and top turns.

Sitting in the line-up and waiting for the next set to come while looking at the huge cliffs in front of you, is something you don’t experience every day. Very small today by Bali’s standards, but perfect for intermediate surfers today at Uluwatu, which is one of the best waves in the world for the quality and length of ride. At low tide the waves were breaking a bit fast but as the ride pushed in the waves were softer breaking and easier to make. A solid swell is forecast for tomorrow, and when it’s firing there is a huge range of breaks to choose from.

Our home spot was so much fun today! Glassy, head-high waves came consistently and the crowd was very light early in the morning. Long left-handers gave plenty of opportunities to practice backhand bottom and top turns. Perfect to improve your surfing skills!

We are expecting one more day with smaller waves, but on Tuesday, a new swell is about to arrive later in the afternoon. Everyone is excited about the new swell and we are looking forward to this week. With the wind changing already, the conditions will be offshore and favorable for surf spots like Uluwatu, Impossibles, and Balangan.

Straight after breakfast this morning, we took the short 5 minute drive up to the most consistent quality surf spot in Bali, and arguably the world’s most consistent quality wave. We were lucky that the waves were overhead and not crowded. At the start of the session there was a bit of a wobble on the wave, but as the tide came in the waves cleaned up, and there were some great rides to be had on the racetrack.

The surfing season is now well underway and we got another 6-7 months of sunny weather and offshore winds to look forward to. We are firing up the pizza oven for lunch, and then will head back to Uluwatu this afternoon to catch the dropping tide. Eat, Surf, Sleep.

Uluwatu was the best choice today due to the small swell and high tide. Glassy conditions and shoulder-high sets delivered fun waves for everyone. Yes, there was a crowd, but with the many peaks, people spread out and you can find a spot in the line-up.

Another beautiful sunny day here in paradise island. The swell has dropped in size, but very clean conditions today at Bali’s premier surf spot. We love Uluwatu due to the quality and length of the ride. More and more people are returning to Bali, but it is still relatively quiet and the long reef at Uluwatu is excellent for spreading out the crowds.

Today was perfect for intermediate surfers as the waves were head high and not too powerful. Uluwatu can be dangerous at low tide so we always surf it between mid and high tide, when there is enough water on the reef for comfort and safety.

A good size swell running today and all the spots breaking. Advanced group dawn patrolled Uluwatu. As you can see from the photos, there was some morning sickness on the face of the wave, but some bombs to be had. Padang around the corner was cleaner and smoother ,and perfect for beginners and intermediates. We plan to go back to Uluwatu this afternoon and expect it will have cleaned up.

The swell got smaller today and we decided to visit Uluwatu. The mid-tide in the morning was perfect for the smaller waves and long, clean left-handers were peeling over the reef. It takes a while to get used to the current and to find your landmark when you surf there for the first time.
