Beginner Surfing Lessons at Padang Padang, Bali

This morning our beginner group made the short journey of less than 1km to our local beach at Padang Padang for their group and semi-private surfing lessons.

The wind resulted in the waves not being as perfectly clean as they often are but conditions — breaking softly around knee-high — were still excellent for learning, as you can see from the great rides in today’s gallery.

Elsewhere at the surf camp, our advanced group surfed at Uluwatu for both sessions while the intermediate group started their day at Toro Toro before surfing their second session at Uluwatu.

Beginner and Intermediate Surfing Lessons at Dreamland, Bali

This morning, our intermediate and beginner groups joined up the same location — Dreamland beach — for their first session of group and private surfing lessons.

It’s clear from the photos what great progress everyone is making and they all had a great session enjoying the clean and learner-friendly waves that were breaking in the waist to shoulder-high range on sets.

After breakfast back at the surf camp, both groups met again to surf at Padang Padang, while our advanced guiding group caught the boat to Middle Reef at dawn before surfing Uluwatu for their second session.

Beginner and Intermediate Surfing Lessons at Dreamland, Bali

After an overnight downpour the skies cleared to reveal a beautifully clear and still mornining which resulting in some perfectly glassy and clean waves at Dreamland beach.

Our beginner and intermediate group were all making some great progress in the waves which ranged from waist to head-high on sets. Everybody caught lots of waves and fun times were had by all.

Elsewhere at surf camp the advanced group caught the boat to Temple for their first session and our intermediate/advanced group surfed at Geger Left over in Nusa Dua.

Intermediate Surfing Lessons and Guiding at Dreamland, Bali

With the very low tide coinciding with dawn — our favourite time of the day to be in the water here at the surf camp — Dreamland was the spot of choice for today’s intermediate surf lessons and guiding.

The swell predicted overnight hadn’t quite arrived at the start of the morning but it certainly filled in during the session and there were fun and challenging waves on offer for all of our intermediates to test themselves against.

After stopping back at the surf camp for breakfast our intermediate group surfed their second session at Balangan. Elsewhere at surf camp, we had our beginners surfing at Padang Padang and the advanced group started their day at Greenbowl.

Beginner Surfing Lessons at Balangan, Bali

This morning our beginner groups headed to Balangan beach for their group and private surfing lessons.

Waves were typically coming through in the knee to shoulder-high range with a couple of larger sets, which the future big wave surfers among the group confidently took advantage of!

After a break between sessions, the groups stayed at Balangan for their second session of the day as it remained the ideal place to surf today based on the tide, wind and swell conditions.

Beginner Surfing Lessons at Padang Padang, Bali

This morning our beginners made the short journey down to our local break at Padang Padang for their morning group surfing lessons.

Waves were breaking in the very beginner-friendly knee to waist high range — perfect for building confidence and finding your feet on the board for the first time.

After a fun and rewarding session, our beginners headed back to camp to refuel before another session back at Padang Padang later in the morning.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding and Lessons at Uluwatu, Bali

Our intermediate and advanced surf guiding group headed to Uluwatu at dawn today for their first surf session of the day and were delighted to be greeted by clean, glassy conditions and relatively thin crowds.

It’s a common misconception that surf lessons are mainly for beginners but the positional advice and coaching is hugely valuable at breaks like Uluwatu where the benefit of local knowlege equals a much higher wave count.

Swell height was similar to yesterday with waves ranging from chest high to overhead on the larger sets and everybody caught plenty of waves — especially those having lessons and benefiting from the guidance of their expert instructor.

Intermediate Surf Lessons and Guiding at Airport Rights, Bali

When there’s not quite enough swell for surf camp favourite Toro Toro, the next wave up the reef — Airport Rights — is usually the next stop and that’s exactly where the surf lessons and guiding took place this morning for our intermediate groups.

Not quite as clean as it was yesterday, waves were breaking in the chest to head-high range and the lack of crowds ensured that everybody caught loads of waves.

After breakfast our beginners and intermediates surfed at Dreamland and our advanced guiding group — who surfed the dawn session at Uluwatu — surfed at Greenbowl
